My 10 Best Photos

As a photographer, I have taken tens of thousands of photos. I have been fortunate to have had my work published in national magazines and used by a variety of clients for print ads, book covers, websites, products, multimedia, TV, and film. In no particular order, this list represents my 10 favorites…

Evil Cat

This is an image of a friendly tabby house cat uniquely named, Kitty, whom I lived with in San Luis Obispo, California. The image was caught in the morning when strong natural light streaked across its face. This was Kitty’s natural pose with no manipulation of the cat’s position or of the scene. No Photoshop was used either.

Boat in Sunset

This image of the tranquil sailboat and sunset was taken at Morrow Bay, California. During my short 6 month stay in Los Osos, I witnessed many spectacular sunsets over the bay. This was one of them.

Ant on Plant

Southern California is full of Birds of Paradise plants. This close-up of an ant crawling upside down on the plant’s ‘beak’ made for an unusual and interesting photo.

San Francisco

This is a very popular view of the ‘painted ladies’ and San Francisco skyline from Alamo Square. Many thousands of people have taken this exact shot, but it remains one of my favorites.

South Silver Falls in Oregon

South Falls is a popular waterfall near the lodge at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. A longer exposure time was given to soften the appearance and accentuate the beauty of the waterfall. This is the top ranked and downloaded photo on a popular website that sells wallpaper and screensaver software.

Dead Sea Mineral Mud

This photo was taken along the Dead Sea in Israel in 1999 with my old-school Pentax K1000 35mm camera. Tourists at the Ein Gedi Spa slap mud all over themselves in effort to achieve healthier skin from the mud’s rich minerals. This tourist shown was quite ambitious about his application of the mud, covering nearly every part of his body except a small part of his face. It cracked me up. He appeared very gleeful with his accomplishment and I was equally amused as he sported his funny sunglasses and buck teeth with a couple gold tooth crowns. I asked to take his picture and he seemed proud to strike a pose. I figured no model release was necessary on this one. :)

Plants in Sunset

This was a spectacular sunset at Shell Beach, California with Avila Beach and Port San Luis shown in the background.

FMX freestyle superman jump

This was a freestyle motocross performance at the fair in Santa Maria, California. The ‘superman’ was still a relatively new trick when this was captured in 2002. The lack of ground showing and clouds in the distance adds to the awe and illusion of the rider soaring freely through the sky.

Tying Shoes

This is a photo I entered into a local photography contest of a woman tying her shoes, which won first in their traditional category. It then won an award of merit from the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs in January 2009.

Face

The wispy wind and its effect on the model’s hair helped this glamour photo appear more dynamic.

If you’re interested in seeing more of my favorite photos, I will be posting more within the next couple weeks. You may also visit the Turbo Photo Library to see more of my photos (I took all the photos on this CD).
